Different patients. Different results.

What kind of LUCENTIS patient are you?

Did LUCENTIS® (ranibizumab injection) start to work for you right away? Or did it take some time to see results? Don’t give up! Initial response to LUCENTIS does not always predict future results. While everyone is different, LUCENTIS patients treated monthly in a key clinical study fell into 4 categories.

  RAPID GAINER
1 out of 5 patients saw significant improvement (≥ 15 letters or 3 lines) after the first 4 monthly treatments. Most of these patients still saw significant improvement (15 letters or 3 lines) after 1 year of monthly treatment.

  GRADUAL GAINER
More than half of all patients had only small gains (1 to 14 letters) in vision after the first 4 monthly treatments. Of those, 1 in 4 showed significant improvement (≥ 15 letters or 3 lines) by 1 year with monthly treatment.

  DELAYED GAINER
1 out of 5 patients lost some vision after the first 4 monthly treatments. Of patients who experienced initial losses in vision (0 to 14 letters) after the first 4 months of treatment, 1 in 3 also showed improvement (≥ letter) by 1 year with monthly treatment.

  LIMITED GAINER
Not all patients gain vision. Less than 3% of patients had limited or no response (≥ 15 letters or 3 lines lost). Keep in mind that without any treatment, the loss of vision is likely to be much greater. However, a few people lost vision.

Who is LUCENTIS for?

LUCENTIS® (ranibizumab injection) is a prescription medicine for the treatment of patients with wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Important LUCENTIS Safety Information

Like any prescription medication, LUCENTIS is not for everyone. You should not use LUCENTIS if you have an infection in or around the eye.

Like other injections given into the eye, serious eye infection (endophthalmitis) and detached retina have occurred with LUCENTIS. Increases in eye pressure have been seen within 1 hour of an injection. Your eye doctor should monitor your eye pressure and eye health during the week after the injection. If your eye becomes red, sensitive to light, painful, or has a change in vision, you should seek immediate care from your eye doctor.

Although uncommon, conditions associated with eye- and non–eye-related blood clots (arterial thromboembolic events) may occur.

Serious side effects related to the injection procedure were rare. These included serious eye infection, detached retina, and cataract. Other uncommon serious side effects included inflammation inside the eye and increased eye pressure.

The most common eye-related side effects were red eye, eye pain, small specks in vision, the feeling that something is in your eye, and increased tears. The most common non–eye-related side effects were high blood pressure, nose and throat infection, and headache.

LUCENTIS is for prescription use only.

Individual results with LUCENTIS may vary.
